I will be based in Sanur/somewhere in Bali until at least May of next year, and I am excited to be living with so many quality dive destinations nearby.

That said, most dive shops cater to vacation divers (i.e. the best deals are multi-night dive/stay packages) and I'm curious if any of the many local dive shops provide deals to residents and/or KITAS holders in some form or another. I'm looking to take advantage of my flexibility as a resident to dive as often as possible, but would love to enjoy the benefits (and defrayed costs) of being a repeat customer without necessarily diving multiple days in a row.

I'm also looking for dive shops that offer discounts such as last minute vacancies for boat trips or other options. I'll certainly be asking around but hoping to take advantage of any of the local wisdom here. Curious what other local divers do.

Second, I'm also curious if the Denpasar/Sanur area has any sort of diving clubs or other opportunities to meet up with resident divers to arrange trips or dive independently of dive ops, such as shore dives at safe sites (I'm working on getting my own gear here).

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Hey Garibaldi,

Good to hear you relocated to Bali for a while.

We offer a 10% discount to KITAS/KTP holders for dives booked in advance. KITAS/KTP holders need to show us documents on their first day diving with us. Accompanying divers with no KITAS/KTP do not benefit from this.

This can be cumulated with our 3 days or 5 days discounts. These need to be booked in advance, but not necessarily on consecutive days. If looking at much more dives, we can surely talk about it together.

Last minute vacancies make sense for us and the best way to go about it is for your to give us your Indo mobile phone number so we can contact you the evening before a boat departure.

Likewise, being flexible with dates and/or dive destinations, as well as letting us know in advance when you want to dive, makes our lives easier and enables us to help you better... Rigid schedules requested on short notice do not. Food for thought!

Just send us an email and we'll arrange to meet up.

I'll be back at the beginning of August, but in the meantime, you can talk to James.

We hope to dive with you soon.

We offer last minute discounts for expats/locals for our Penida/Lembongan trips. Send us an email info@underwatertribe.com and we can put you on the list.

Talk to @billt4sf who moved from San Francisco to Bali "for a year."
