My wife and I will be vacationing on Cape Cod starting Aug 23 through Aug 31.

I spoke to someone at the Cape Dive Locker and they recommended Sandwich or Corporation Beach every Sunday.

We are staying in West Dennis but will travel to any beach. If anyone is going to be at either beach and willing to show us the ropes for the area please let us know.

Our calendar is very flexible so we can be there at any time.

Cape Cod is pretty much one big sand bar, so the shore diving is limited. Corporation Beach is very shallow especially at low tide and at Sandwich Town Beach(STB), you'll never get below 25fsw unless you start digging. But, they are both sites that offer easy parking, easy entry/exit and enough marine life and u/w topography to still be nice dives. I've heard good things about nite diving at both locations, but haven't done it. STB is w/i 45 minutes of my house, so if I plan on diving it while you're here, I'll pm or email you. Another deeper option is Garbage Beach in Woods Hole, but I've never dove there. Enjoy your stay on the Cape.

Dive either site only at HIGH TIDE. At low tide both make very nice snorkeling, so if you have limited space in the family-truckster and want to shed your tank then go old school with your wetsuit and snorkel.

Corporation is very very pretty as a low tide snorkel, lots of sunlight and diverse topography (eel grass, sandy areas, rolling hills, spots with rocky bottom, a little of everything) You're likely to see lobsters, stripers, tautog, skate and countless crabs. Probably a flounder or two. Just be sure to stay straight out or a little left (west) from the breakwater. If you go to the beach side (right) it's all sand. Rumor has it there is a WWII aircraft somewhere off corporation beach, but you'll need a boat or divekayak to get there i believe.

Sandwich is a rather descent snorkel at low tide too, but stay in the area where the houses are for better snorkeling (a little more shallow). Sandwich had a Tug boat run aground aged back and at low tide you can see some metal parts sticking out of the water. Be a little conscious there is a slight current into the canal that will effect navigation and your swim back in.

I am not really sure of your experience or interests for your vacation; however, there are a number of charter boats on cape cod, so if you wanted something a little more involved that's an option. They can definitely help you get to some of the wrecks off cape cod.

I've dived Garbage Beach and I love it. Get there early with a handful of quarters to feed the meter while you're diving. If you're lucky, you can score a parking space right in front of or across from the beach. Diving options there include the right hand side by the jetty (watch out for fishermen and their lines) or the pier immediately to the left. Definitely be careful not to stray too far out, as the Vineyard ferry dock isn't all that far away and you'll absolutely need to stay clear of there. You'll hear them, though - they'll definitely rattle your teeth a bit when they pull out!

Cape Dive Locker out of Hyannis does local charters - had one scheduled a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately, it didn't pan out. They were really nice, though - I'd use them again anytime.
