I asked Dan this question in the late '80's. At that time, they told me to wait 48 hours after donating. Recommendations of this nature do change from time to time. I've followed the 48 hour rule for many years with no problems. Prior to asking DAN, I often dived right after donation.

Has there been any discussion or research on diving after pheresis donation? I, like FredT, have a fine O-neg vintage, also happens to be missing some genetic markers, making it prime for neo- & oncology patients. My handlers would like me in every 3 weeks, my schedule generally allows about every 6 weeks.

I read scubadoc's post on the link above re: pheresis donation & resuming diving but now the Red Cross has a new device that allows them to collect both platelets & WBC during one donation. Does give me a great reason to go eat a big steak, but scares me a little.

Anyone else doing pheresis & diving?
