All,

Can anyone out there tell me the legislation for diving after Neurological Surgery (repair to tear in Durra)? I am looking for specific information relating to (a) working as a dive professional and (b) obtaining a fitness to dive medical for recreational diving.

I have made some preliminary investigations here in the UK and according to HSE regulations there's a period of 5 years after an accident where no diving medical can be issued. I have yet to determine if this is the same for a fitness to dive medical (PADI).

In addition to this can any of the doctors on this board inform me of the possible risks that I run if I dive prior to this 5 year period. It seams ludicrous to me that I can get behind the wheel of a car after only 6 months but that I can't teach diving again for 5 years!! Obviously there’s the issue of pressure but no one has yet given me any specifics.

Please either respond to this thread or to me via my post box - this is fairly specific so that's probably the better option.

Thanks in advance - David.
