So I have read on several other threads were people had no problem after having a crown done, but is there a specific amount of time one should wait after having the work done prior to resuming diving?

I've never waited at all.

If the dentist left an air bubble in there, wait time is not going to help.

I have never waited but I do make sure ther dentist knows what I plan to do with my new crown. I like it when my dentist is also a diver.

I dove a week after a root canal. No issues at all.

Thanks! Dentist says he is a diver, but I will have to make sure and mention it to him prior to the procedure.

I had a bridge installed in Coz last year and didn't wait to test it.

no issues at all

I've dove as little as 2 days after getting dental work done. As long as you aren't getting it done in some back alley somewhere, I think you should be fine.
