Just curious - who actually makes the regs that DiveRite markets? I am assuming they are just rebranding them (though I could be wrong) I've searched for nearly an hour to no avail . (terrible thing curiosity . . .)

The DIve Rite regs are made by a company in Asia. This company also makes regs for other high profile companies. It is hard to find out though, it seems that they want to keep it a secret...

Hi 'Spot,

I recently investigated this exact issue and I was unable to determine who makes the DiveRite stuff but I was cautioned not to purchase them for more than one reason. Mainly, the obscurity of the ultimate manufacturer could make on the fly field service difficult to find. I was told by more than one instructor that equal or better reliability and functionality, in the same price range, could be found in several major brands that can easily be serviced anywhere on the planet. I was sincerely considering the DiveRite 2010, I think, but at these suggestions I moved over to Oceanic. However, if you want to service your own equipment DR seems to be one of the only brands that makes rebuild kits available to the general public.

Good luck with your choice,

Toe

i know that the DiveRite 2000 is exactly the same as the Sea Elite Tech, and are both made in Taiwan. They are exactly the same.

They are, in turn, copies of an Apeks model (forget which). So if you want the original, Apeks is the way to go, and if you want a cheap rip-off, Sea Elite is the way to go (i went that route due to money considerations).

my sea elite breathes very nicely, and i love it. i've had no trouble from it (but i did drop it and busted the exhaust cover; works fine without it).

Dive my DiveRites down to some pretty deep depths and in caves and many other places and have not had a problem. Servicing and parts are no problem as you can buy your own and carry them with you- try to find an Apeks part while on vacation on a small island somewhere- or any parts for that matter.

You also might be suprised as who else gets regs made over here in Asia, more companies than you would think.

Don't think you would be going wrong with DiveRites, as with all brands some people won't like it but the reasons you posted are not reason not to purchase Dive Rite regs.

Zeagle makes them, they look identical, and I think I read that somewhere.

Zeagle = numero 1
