Jura: a diver missing in Lake Vouglans
A 57-year-old diver has been missing since Sunday after an excursion in Lake Vouglans (Jura), a judicial source learned on Monday.
A "seasoned" diver, this fifty-something who "used to dive in the Jura" took part on Sunday morning in an excursion in Lake Vouglans, in the town of Onoz, with the Saint-Claude diving club, said the prosecutor of Lons-le-Saunier, Lionel Pascal.
His companions noticed his absence at midday, during the ascent to the surface, after having explored the site of the Chartreuse de Vaucluse monastery, submerged when the lake was flooded in 1968.
Monday morning, the search continued to try to find his body.
Additional resources will arrive during the day, including sonar to facilitate underwater detection.
"It is clearly a diving accident," said the prosecutor.
“The investigation will determine what made us come to this.
It can be a material or human failure (malaise, too late recovery…) ”, he added.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Saint-Jean-de-Losne river brigade, supported by the Jura gendarmerie.
