This is even more disturbing considering the greatly publicized warnings about this beach.
I have several dives there over the years. One year, I refused to dive there due to high surf ("high surf" being a relative term at Monastery). The last time I was there, it was flat clam (My Profile Pic - the same location as the tragic accident). One of the best dives I've ever had in my life was at this location (the day before that picture was taken). But I can only hope that this incident will serve as a warning to myself and others who stand before any dive location and wonder, "Should I really make this dive here today?"
