Really is sad...does anybody have details on how this tragedy happened? Sounds like he got tangled up, I wonder why his knife or buddy didn't get him out of the lines? It happened off Salty's in Alki. He was discovered by an instructor and his student...very very sad.

SEATTLE – A diver who got hung up underwater in some buoy lines in Elliott Bay died Tuesday.

A scuba instructor and his student found the man near Seacrest Marina Park near Alki late Tuesday afternoon. It's not clear how long the 40-year-old man was underwater.

The instructor says it appeared the man got caught in a buoy and may have run out of air.

Paramedics tried CPR on the man after he was pulled from the water, but was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim has not been identified

The story mentions the chain was around his regulator. I'm pretty sure that was the first stage. Happened to me right there. Wow...

I'm so sorry for his friends and family. I may be one of the former. Hope everyone I know is still OK.

The details appear at this point to be a solo diver on a Draeger Dolphin, found in the chain on a buoy along the boundary line. Not enough beyond that, so no way to know if he died and then ended up in the chain or what.

Regardless, this is of course tragic. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
