The body of a 61-year-old Sunshine West man who was diving with a group has been located in the water.

The group were diving at Altona Beach when they lost sight of him on Saturday morning.

“It’s believed a group of divers were diving in the water near Bayview Street about 9am when the man became separated from the group,” Victoria Police said.

“Sadly, the man was located deceased in the water a short time later.”

The Sunshine West man was diving at Altona Beach near Bayview Street when he was separated from the group, and later found.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

He is the second diver in days to be located unresponsive in the water.

Paramedics in South Australia were called to Cape Jaffa boat ramp in the state’s south-east just before 2.30pm Wednesday after receiving reports of an unconscious man.

The 50-year-old diver from the Barossa died at the scene, although details of what happened are unclear, South Australian police confirmed.
