In all actuality, the student should get out and dive more. For those that will argue that taking the AOW does give the student more dive time, I can't argue that, but it is an expensive price to pay for instructor supervision. I went through the classes, I know how it is.
Man, am a little whining biznitch today or what? hehe
In our neck of the woods for about 150 bucks you get, at minimum, five dives/fills for five different types of diving, which are supervised. I guess its just me but 30 bucks a dive doesn't sound too bad for what your getting. No one i know purports to the idea that one dive in any setting, night, deep, etc, makes anyone an expert in that setting. So whats the big deal?
I have nothing against anyone who prefers to get experience in other ways for their own reasons but see nothing wrong with paying a relatively small sum for organized training, if that is what one desires.
The angst that gets displayed on this board on topics such as this is amazing to me. Gawd forbide you actually take a NAUI or PADI or ABCD advanced class instead finding your own way to get experience.
LOL!
