McCabejc Thanks for that comparison between Bonaire and Kona Hi. I just came back from the Philippines and had a great time.I was thinking of going to Kona and dive with a friend for a couple of weeks. I have been to Bonaire twice and ...certain SB members will hate me... I think it`s mediocre at best. Yes the water temperture is DIVINE. Shore dives maybe the best in the world. Lodging is expensive, food is not cheap, and it`s SO expensive and long to get there. 8 - 10 hrs with 2 ( hope we make it ) connections. I got my AOW at Buddy Dive. It`s set up for rich people who get off a week and want to stay in a resort. The Bonaire Inn is the cheapest place to stay on the island $30 last time I was the ( 2004 ). I guess it`s like going back to your elementary school after university. It seems smaller than you remember and not quite as nice. If you`ve never been to Bonaire...go check it out.For the $ you could go to a lot nicer places. I live in Ca and will be doing all of my diving in the Indo - Pacific from now on. Maybe go to the Caymans when I hit the lottery or Cuba when the US wakes up...2005... how many more years??? Palau, PNG, Irian Jaya, a lifetime of dives. The worst of which would be 5 times better than Klein Bonaire. Can`t complain about Bonaires weather or water temps ( vis for that matter) but not that much life or corals. Nice if you`re escaping Chicago winters. I would go to Cozumel to help out their economy and the diving is par if not better and more fun SI`s. Kind regards Kevin
