Personally, I would only buy used ScubaPro BCD's these days as I was very unimpressed with the newer ones. I use an X-Tek which I absolutely love. In fact, I have two of them so I can keep two different wings mounted and ready to go at a moment's notice.

The X-Tek has a wonderful fit...rock solid on my frame. I like it better than a backplate design for stability and comfort.

However, I have never dived the Transpac II and so can not offer a comparison.

not to muddy the waters-- but another one you might want to try is the oms-iqpaq(pack?)--- i have tried the scuba pro and the transpac and ditched them both for the oms-- i like the way the oms fits better --and you can use a backplate with it=-= which i have--so there is 6lbs off my waiste right there..

Dude,

You can use a BP with the Scubapro and the Diverite as well.

You can't mount a BP to the TransPac. You'll have to get the TransHarness, or whatever it's called.

Same for S-Tek. Neither are Hogarthian harnesses. I suppose you COULD figure out a way to remove the straps and stick them on a backplate, but that's DIY.
