Acanthurus and I have just returned from 2 fun weeks in Maui and we would like to make special mention of some of the dive operators we had the pleasure of meeting there.

First, Doug "Eel Whisperer" Corbin, aka shakadoug. We did 8 dives with him and had a great time. We know that shore diving in Maui can be quite easy but it was sure nice to have a guide like Doug to show us around. He always made sure we were diving safely (excellent briefings etc.), that we were always sensitive to the reef and its inhabitants and most of all that we had fun. His exuberance for diving is infectious and he made the trip very special for us. Thank you Doug....you offer a great product.

Welcome to SHAKA DIVERS Web Site!

Next, we had the pleasure of meeting John and Emi from Dive and Sea Maui. They have a 3 year old 33' Armstrong twin engine cat-hull boat which has a lovely ride in the chop and rough seas. It is well equipped and roomy. They offer a wonderful easy going atmosphere and make sure everything is looked after. They were a pleasure to be with and their calm confident presence made us feel safe and valued. Thank you John and Emi...we hope to see you both on the next trip.

We also dove with one of the larger operators there, Maui Dive Shop. Capt. Mark and Amos (DM) deserve kudos for the organized manner that they run the Maka Koa. I know that organizing divers can be somewhat like herding cats but you both did a wonderful job of keeping the 20 divers out of each other's way and comfortable. Good guiding, great pace and great attention to safety. Nicely done.
