I have been digging through previous posts but can't find an answer. Please help

Heading to Cozumel for 10 days in Feb and renting a house near paradise beach

We are a group of 4, two experienced divers one moderate skill level (all own equipment) and one snorkeler who would occasionally like to join us on the dive boat. Before I get a lecture I know diving and snorkeling don't mix... Depths etc. But we are willing to sacrifice dive site options to have the snorkeler along for a couple of days. Just divers on the other days.

I would appreciate suggestions of dive ops that allow divers and snorkelers on the same boat and if being picked up at a pier near our rental is possible.

Thanks in advance

Tres Pelicanos.

I've been thoroughly enjoying diving with them, and -- even in the busy season -- they've been able to accomodate snorklers with some advanced notice.

Surface stops are often @ Paradise Beach, and I believe they can pickup/drop-off there, depending on the dive sites.

You can charter your own boat:
ALDORA DIVERS
Call the shop with your desires.
I recommend Columbia Shallows for a mixed group, weather permitting.

At the very least, I would suggest chartering your own boat on the days when you want to mix divers and snorkelers. There are at least a couple of good dive sites where the snorkeling is also good - specifically Columbia Shallows - a very good dive that never goes below about 35'-40', and Palancar Gardens, another good shallow dive.

EDIT: Just another thought - the Dive Op may well charge you for another DM to supervise the snorkelers. Not certain, but Marine Park rules may well prohibit a Dive Op from just putting snorkelers in the water without a DM or guide to ensure safety.

Again, Tres Pelicanos, on multiple occasions I have been on their boat when they have accommodated groups identical to yours. If you are there between the 6th and the 15th I will also be diving with 3P.

If 3P is full you could check with Scuba With Alison. She puts snorkelers on her boats sometimes. Both are great ops.

Third recommendation for Tres Pelicanos here. On our Dec '14 trip a husband (diver) and wife (snorkeling/skindivier) were on our boat. No problems at all meeting both their dive and snorkeling needs. December '15 they happened to return the same week again and were on our boat again there was only only one difference... His wife got certified in between visits and strapped on the tank this trip!

We all start somewhere just as I did. I well remember the day I was snorkeling in Coz from a cruise ship and was swimming through the bubbles rising from the divers below me. That was all it took as I wanted to be DOWN THERE. Upon returning from that cruise I informed my girlfriend at the time (now wife) that I was getting certified and she could join me if she wanted or choose not if it wasn't her thing. She was all on board and for the last 14 years we've enjoyed the most spectacular vacations and dive experiences (within our budget) ever since. Maybe your friend will experience the same and decide to make the life changing decision to get certified. Ya never know. Regardless, 3P's is my recommendation and since they usually spend the surface interval at a dock there would not only be snorkeling while the divers are down but during the 1HR surface interval at a great beach as well.

Roberta's Scuba Shack does this for us.
