It is not what everyone else got. That said I'm not going to mail a $20 dive light back to china for a refund. Either it'll work or I'll have some parts to add to my electronics goodie bag for some future project.

The switch smoothly slides front to back. I can't wait to see how the light works once the batts are charged.

I couldn't stand the wait and fired up the batteries before they were done charging. It's an extremely bright light. The slider is actually a dimmer. The slider doesn't feel like it's clicking but there are "points" as you slide where the light switches to a higher or lower brightness. As best I can tell there are 16 brightness levels.

Also the head and the back end of the light both unscrew from the main body. Both have two o-rings with some kind of lube visible on them. I'm going to try and get some more of these.

The batteries fit perfectly and there are springs at both the back end and the head end of the light to keep them nice and tight length wise. The 18650's are a prefect fit for the light width wise. Everything is nice and finished. I don't feel any burrs in any of the threading, the pieces screw together smoothly.

Not sure if it means anything but the o-rings are a brownish red.

I'll hang onto the 26650's.. might be useful in some future project, or if I get a different light when I order more.

What's the beam angle like on that model? I see a lot of sellers selling one that looks like that, and I already have plenty of 18650 batteries. That model takes 2 batteries correct? I'm looking for a cheap light to bring with me when I travel to warm locations.

you guys see this one... 2000LM Underwater 260ft CREE XML T6 LED 26650 Diving Flashlight Torch Waterproof

jim..

So I have read this thread beginning to end but I did not see - would you consider this a primary night dive light? or is it more of a nice to have when poking in the crevices and as needed for a backup?

I have a primary night dive light a Princeton but it is bulky and the reviews you all are giving for a $26 sound like it almost could be a night time primary dive light... Yea or Nea? Much lighter and it sounds like the run time is fine for me...

I would have no reservation taking this as a primary light.... and one as a back-up....

You be the judge.
Here are some photos comparing four lights I own. The big PrincetonTec has 3 older LEDs (older, not the "CREE XM L T6"); the smaller PrincetonTec has one LED; the black light is the $26 chinese import (3 x CREE XM L T6 with a 26650 Li ion battery), and the little green one is a PCa LED. These photos aren't great, but you can roughly compare the beam angles and relative brightness. FWIW, all four lights were ON in the first pic of the wall - from left to right big PT, little PT, Chinese, PCa. The PCa on the right IS on, just much dimmer than the others. The last pic is of the PCa light on only (so the camera increased the exposure.) Just shows why you have to be careful comparing photos. I bought the PTs and PCa used, but they have fresh batteries. As I said earlier, the main drawback to the chinese light is the switch doesn't lock in the OFF position like the other 3, but otherwise it's a winner. No obvious drop in brightness after 75min (but I haven't done a careful test.)

Bought 2 - one for me and one for my son... Thanks.

I have been using mine (2) since I got them. I have probably 10 dives with them, the deepest being 120 feet SW... So far so good. I am very happy with them.

Still waiting for the promised box of donuts.................!:fruitcake:
