It looks like I'm open for the spring dive, what day is best for you? Sunday? Monday?
Monday looks good for Cypress. Gulf-Gulper is going too. Anybody else want to go?

I think darcy is going to come, I'll be there :D

...and more on-topic with the thread subject, Gulf Shores Beaches are closed regardless of plans. I was there, and they didn't appear to have much damage in the main areas, but I heard Ft Morgan and West Beach got pounded rather heavily.

Yes I would love to go. I have my own gear but no tanks. Is there a dive shop nearby? Also I do not know where Cypress is, directions would also be nice... :D
Also what kind of water temperatures are we looking at. I have a full 3 mil suit and a small 1.5 I can wear underneath, would that be sufficient. As you can see i am somwhat of a noob, I have been on 11 dives. I hope I still qualify. :11:

Temperatures are identical to the water temps at Vortex. Vortex is also the nearest place to rent tanks, its about 35-40min away from the boat launch we use to get to Cypress. Which leads to the next little problem... You need a boat to get there, you can rent canoes at Vortex to use, if you want to strap it to the top of your vehicle. $50 a day or $10 every 2 hours, you'll need it for 6 hours minimum for the trip, setup time, canoe time, dive time, SI time, and the way back.

To get to the boat launch from I-10, heading east, from P'Cola, take Exit 104 and go South on SR279. You'll eventually reach a 'T' section and the need to go left or right on Hwy79 - go right(south). You're gonna be on that road for 1/2 mile or so before getting into Vernon. Take a left onto SR277 and go up the road ~4 miles while keeping an eye out for a public boat launch sign on the left(Culpepper Lane, I believe). Follow the road all the way to the water.

Sounds like too much work? Give me a call and I can bring some extra tanks, I have 6 at my disposal - I only ask that you pay to get em filled back up :D. I can only fit 2 people on my boat with gear, but I can make 2 trips in the time it'll take Bill and Larry to paddle to the spring. 251-978-4089 I can also elaborate on directions or we can make plans to meet somewhere else so you can follow me.

Is that a challenge?

Could be :)

I haven't heard back from Jurgen or Darcy, so I might be piloting the Jellyfish alone *shrugs* If that ends up being the case, I can take some of the gear off you guys canoes and maybe give you guys a bit of a tow since I won't have as much weight.

Hopefully, I'll hear from some people though :D

Sorry I didn't get to reply sooner. I will definately try to call you tomorrow. I just got back from recovering 30 dogs and 9 cats from Biloxi Mississippi. We left at 9 AM and got back to Montgomery Alabam at 12:20 AM So it has been a long day and I am looking forward to being able to do some diving.

I will take you up on your offer Super as all that you had expalined about renting and straping and finding and loading and navigating made me dizzy. I will gladly pay for filling the tanks and paying you for your troubles. Again I will try to call you Sunday umm Today. :D

Rescueing abandoned pets? I guess thats a worthy excuse. I'm sure their owners iwll put themselves in your debt, I know I would if my animals were in trouble(2 dogs and a cat) :D Luckily its a three day weekend still and there is alot of time for planning.

Shoot me a call sometime today and we'll make arrangements to meet somewhere around 7:45AMish, which will give us plenty of time to make it to the boat launch by 8:30ish to meet up with SeaYoda and Gulf Gulper. I'll bring two extra tanks, don't worry about paying me for my troubles though - 2 people setting up my boat is a hellovalot easier than me setting it up myself - so you are saving me alot of trouble. :)
