I just don't log dives
Wow all this stuff with DAN,
Yes I Have DAN Insurance and have had it since I started,But now I have taken a Policy out from **********,as its cheap to cover me on my trip in areas DAN may have chamber related problems, That said has any one droped DAN or added a policy like me?
I do dive Deep Air & Deco style dives so a Insurance policy is a must. any one else chime in?
Dive safe,
Brad

As I understand it, the problems DAN is having is only with a few chambers in selected areas. Those areas still have chambers that take DAN insurance, so if you need one you shouldn't have any problems.

I thought about it and then I decided that I wasn't going to drop a reputable organization like DAN because one person decides to bilk the diving community and in turn tries to make DAN look unreliable (based on the statement I read from DAN and input from other SB members). I read the statement by SSS and they state that they still accept DAN and they have many chambers in Mexico and other places.

Based on what I have read, I am prepared to plan my vacations away from areas where that individual's chamber's are the only option (maybe that is unrealistic, I don't know. Still looking into it). For me it's a matter of trust and I trust DAN way more than him. It concerns me that one of the allegations is that he is involved in medically unnecessary use of the chamber on divers.

That said. I always buy trip insurance because at the cost of international vacations these days, I need to be protected in case I have to cancel. The insurance that I use covers not only trip cancellation/interruption, but also medical. That includes diving related emergencies and emergency evacs. I have been using them since before I started diving so the fact that they cover that is coincidental for me.

I'm a bit overinsured in the medical care department but that's ok. It's not really expensive anyway.

I was thinking of getting decent insurance to cover my equipment (lost, stolen, damaged)

I found an insurance company on the net; DiveAssure. Anyone heard of this company, good or bad?

and does DAN cover equipment? or perhaps just in medical emergency type of situation?

Thanks....

DIVMSTR,
DAN has a equipment policy,PADI has Vincent Buckley, and DiveAssure is my back up insurance now and I have heard good things about them, That said have you checked with your homeowners? My wife did and I have twice the coverage now and ten times the stuff to cover and 1/2 the price.
Dive safe !

Thanks bro for the info.....I may try the DiveAssure now that you've given me some positive feedback on it. As for my home owners insurance, I called them today and they checked it out (Allstate Ins.) but they only cover stolen property. They didn't have a policy that covered damaged or lost. I guess the DiveAssure can handle that side for me. I have a brand new camera that I have yet to try out and if I lost it or if someone stole it, I would kick myself for not having any coverage. Thanks again for the reply....

**And I agree, SAFTEY is #1 always....:14:

Make sure to check the fine print with cameras that is a whole new bag of worms,A dive pal of mine in florida found that out with a big $$$$$ claim on his rig. so check around and read the fine, fine, print whith cameras and you may ask up in the photo/video area and get the low down from the pros!
Dive safe Bro!

I have DAN insurance because I feel pretty safe knowing I have a reputable organization backing me up. Haven't obtained equipment insurance yet but I will be getting it soon and I will make sure to read that fine print moneysavr. Good info...
