Man it hasn't been 2 bags per person in...forever.
The Airlines I have flown with allows one bag of sports equipment free of charge including two trips to Cozumel, I always check on the airlines web page to confirm.
I have still been getting 2 bags free on international flights
International flights always give you a 2 bag allowance.. unless you fly something like jetblue or some other charter type airline
All this talk is pointless without specifying airlines as so many vary in so many ways.
Continential leaving on Sunday to CZM. 1 free bag, next bag $27.....
Yep, last March I did not qualify for Elite with Cont and had to pay for second bag both ways, Lubbock-Cancun. Can also vary on routes. If vrykolakas originates in Canada, totally different rules than originating in US to Mexico, or flying domestically within.

I looked. Looks like a 1 bag limit for most, 2 to a few other destinations, and an attempt to charge extra for scuba gear.
1: They do not need to know about the gear

2: Airlines usually disallow luggage liabilities for scuba gear anyway. Get your own Gear or Trip insurance or take your risks.
Flying Spirit from Detroit to Cancun in May - NO FREE BAGS except carry-on. I can't really complain because the flight was under 300$US return. I have another flight in July, also Detroit to Cancun return, but with Delta and the 1st bag is free. I think it is because I booked it when it was NorthWest Airlines.
Seen the headlines lately? They're the first to charge for carry-on, which may not affect your already purchased ticket.

I dunno about you guys but I think these varying baggage policies from airline to airline is becoming one big rip off. I booked a trip with Canadian affair to Scapa Flow when I booked I requested Air Tran-sat as they allowed two free bags, now 5 weeks later I checked their site and they have changed it to one bag 20 kgs and 5 kgs walk on, the empty weight of my walk on bag is 3 lbs so that leaves 7 lbs for my regs, canister light, camera and other misc stuff its getting bloody ridiculous if you ask me.

they should honor the rules that were in effect at the time you bought the ticket
