IM looking around on e-bay and i find a lot of dive cpu's. im looking for a new dive cpu and im not looking for an AI.

i dont know if i trust a sending unit when it has to do with my gas.

I would like to know what most of you feel would be a good first wrist cpu for a new diver.

Thanks

Scuba Gabe

The suunto vyper is popular.

I've used Suunto's since 99, haven't had a problem yet. Not sure if I would trust buying one off of Ebay though.

Get a vyper. You cant go wrong.

Good basic computer for a newbie and does Nitrox.

Less than $300 brand new on ScubaToys.com if their sale is still going on. Full warranty too.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Dive Rite Nitek Plus. It's a nice, small wrist computer. It does Nitrox, as well as an additional gas if you use it for deco. It's great - I've got about 60 dives on it - no problems and am ridiculously happy with it.

The whole Dive Rite series of dive computers are all good and very economically priced.

Suunto's, as others have mentioned, are also pretty good stuff.

Another vote for the Vyper. I just love the Suuntos.
After my old US Divers Matrix died, I got the Vyper and loved it. Then I upgraded to a Vytec, which is just a Vyper on steroids. Then also added a Stinger for backup and freediving.

As for buying on Ebay, I've had many many great experiences and saved a lot of money on dive gear, photo equipment, etc. But be careful when buying from people with little feedback. I got burned bad (lost ~$400) on one of my earliest transactions.
There's always a degree of risk involved when buying sight unseen, but you should be fine as long as you exercise your common sense.

I will .. i just got a dive right harnes and back plate for 120 NEW in the box and i just put a bid on the Suunto vyper new in the box for 220 $ :) got to love ebay for dive stuff
