Yes, Johnny you are correct. A DiveCon stands for "Dive Control Specialist".
SSI DiveCon (Dive Control Specialist)
SSI Dive Control Specialist is the initial dive leadership level. It is considered by those in the industry as the ‘fun’ leadership rating. As a DiveCon, you can do more than any other entry-level dive leader. You can do more because you receive both master diver and assistant instructor training.
As a DiveCon you can:
work on dive boats, at resorts, and take groups diving
lead dive trips and tours
assist SSI Instructors in the pool and open water
teach skills in the pool under the direct supervision of an SSI Instructor
teach SSI scuba skills update programs
teach selected SSI Specialty courses
teach the SSI Snorkeling program
teach selected First Aid and CPR programs
teach Scuba Rangers (after completing the Scuba Rangers Instructor training)
