All you dirt divers from the 909 get out here early in the summertime ;)

Hey, no name calling Robert ;)!!

I was in Laguna at 5:45 (ouch!) last weekend, so I suppose I can make it early again. Name the time and place.

Not to rain on your parade Jim, but good luck finding anything close to 1/2 mile from the beach if you plan on getting to Laguna at 7:30 on a holiday weekend!

Robert, you are the man !!! You are THE MAN !!! :god: Thanks for pulling us out of that one. Okay, knowing me (and I'm a pretty good judge of me) I'll probably be there by 6:00am and just wait for you guys. No biggie. Hell, I'll leave right now if I have to.

Coincidentally, I just got an email from a guy who wants to buddy up on Sunday and go to Crescent Bay, and bring his family. He asks if it's okay with me if we meet there around 9am, since earlier than that is difficult to get his family up and ready. :11: I guess I'll have to break the bad news to him. Sounds like I'll be at Big Corona on Sunday. :eyebrow:

Come to think of it, maybe we need to warn saf_25 (Stacy?) to reconsider her 9am at Big Corona. At that hour the closest parking spot might be in Anaheim.

I wanna come! :luxhello: I'm not sure where Big Corona is though as I never get to CDM. Is there a place where we can meet outside the parking area and carpool in? I have a Expedition that can fit plenty of gear. That should help with the limited parking spaces. I don't plan to stay all day, just for the dive or dives.

Dang, you guys are taking a long time to put this trip together.........only 1 day left.

Jim...Bruce and I are going to meet at laguna sea sports at 6:00am and drive 1 car over to park. We should be there shortly after 6:00 as well. I have your cell, so i'll ring ya if I dont see your van...On crescent bay dr.

Again, the $ thing comes into play here...
You pay the $10 for parking, there's actually parking. It's a nice thing. We were there 2 weeks ago at 8:30 and the lot was EMPTY. It's usually not a concern until the beach-goers start to get up, usually around 10.

My buddies, however (darn morning people!) don't remember that, and are also thinking like you - that with a holiday weekend and a lot of people trying to meet up, parking will be a bit difficult at 9, so I relented to 8:30 again (NO EARLIER!).

So, new plan is meet at 8:30am on Sunday at the FAR SOUTH (standing on the beach, looking at the water, towards the left) end of the parking lot.

For those who don't know Big Corona, it's the Corona Del Mar State Beach.
Take PCH to Marguerite (it's the street with the Rite Aid and the restaurant that I think starts with a "B" - Banderas? Something like that, on the corners).
Heading south on PCH, turn right - or towards the water - onto Marguerite (obviously make a left turn if you're heading north on PCH).
Go the 2 blocks or so until Marguerite dead ends at Ocean. Turn right onto Ocean.
You'll see the access road heading down to the beach in less than a block - veer left and go down the hill. If Ocean starts to curve around, you've gone too far.
Pay the attendent and head to the left end of the parking lot - my buddy and I will be there in his silver SUV, other buddy has a black Camaro.

If you wanted to meet up, you might be able to find parking at Little Corona (when you get to Ocean, turn left instead of right, and take it until it starts to curve around. You'll see the path and the beach sign). Street parking there is limited, though, and I'm not sure if there are time restraints.

Wow - if this many people are planning on going, I'm really hoping conditions are good! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

See you there at (groan) 8:30!

Is Sunday at CDM still on? I don't have any experience to compare to, but 8 ft. surf doesn't sound very promising.

I will be there, and am planning on two dives... I think Ana is coming too... Ana?? If you look at the wave forecast on Pasley's links it looks about 2 ft... It should be fine
