Ditchable weight options for backplate and wing

Back in the day, mask and fins aside, the weight belt was the last piece of gear put on and the first taken off. Very simple. It seems we have added a certain level(s) of complexity to our weight systems these days. :) Just an observation, no disrespect or chastising meant.
 
I think the idea has a lot of potential drawbacks, like it getting hung up on a tank boot, not falling away, and also a buddy may forget it is there since it is not a common configuration.
 
if there is a tank boot, it goes around that so as not to get hung up on the lip. Always do a buddy check before entry and show them how it works. Proper planning and all, yeah?
 
I have my set up so I can reach behind and unclip the weight pockets which are reversed and drop them.

Works well, but you do have to be a bit flexible.
