All of our students can hold their breath for two minutes. Most accomplish this the second pool session. It is really no big deal, I can do it with anyone.
How do you go about doing this? Sounds like a very good thing to be able to do.

Either way, I can't afford doubles so I will use a pony instead when I do deeper dives as that will provide a safety margin for me. It still provides me with a redundant source of gas that will get me to the surface if my main source fails. This comes back to how there are other safe configurations that are not DIR. The DIR people that have stood out most to me are the ones that bag people out for using ponies, and say that their way is the only safe way to dive.![]()
I'll start a thread in I2I.How do you go about doing this? Sounds like a very good thing to be able to do.

How big is your pony? How deep are the deeper dives you are referring to?
BTW, what is a "Saspotato"?
How much do you pay to rent your pony? Do you own the second regulator, or do you rent that too?
I'm a big proponent of used gear. You may be surprised by how reasonable a set of used twins can be.
If I came across used twins then I would buy that for sure. So far I have not. Rental is about $30 including the reg. To compare, a standard tank is about $20 to hire. Not many places rent them though. But yea, I have only done two dives below 30m so hasn't really been an issue yet. We'd like to do more, but not without redundant air and it is hard to hire ponies.
I'll PM you.
