Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be checking that out this summer. My Dad's boat has a fish finder, so we'll try that bad boy out. I think it scans to bottom. Any idea how the vis is in Diamond Lake?

Have you checked it out yourself?

Hi all,
My family has been on Diamond Lake since the 1930's (Wurster) and my husband's family (Nerad) since the 60's. I would love to know who here has the Diamond lake connections. Anyway, it has been several years since I last dove (2 pregnancies!), but we went diving on the wreck several times. It is almost right in front of my husbands family's places on the island. It is mostly wooden beams and a boiler with no marker to find it - as I recall it is at about 30 feet deep. Since we have relatively else to look at in Diamond Lake, if you are in the area and like to dive, it is worth checking out. Vis in the summer is not great. My estimates are that it was 10 ft and less if anyone kicked up any silt.

I have a map made by some local divers of points to line up. It didn't seem to work well for us in finding the South Bend. I have been out a few times with the Tisers and Zoltan can pretty much just "park" right over it.
Others have accurately described the wreck and it's approximate location, but as I recall it sits right at 40ft. and a depth finder would probably help locate it. Viz is not really good enough after the water warms up to just "look" for it underwater. I don't think anyone buoys it anymore as most boaters seem attracted to buoys!
