I just don't log dives
Why me? I feel this is stepping over the line. Here are the details from last nights dive........

We had two wonderfull dives at an unknown reef, 1 mile off the beach in South Laguna. Vis was awsome, bugs were crawling, and the conditions were perfect. We ended with 16 bugs between 3 divers.
After washing the boat and storing the gear it was 12:10am Thursday morning, and we made our way back to my house with boat in tow.
16 miles from Dana Point, 1/2 mile from my house I see the famous red light of a CHP behind me. Of course I pull over and prepare to hand over my normal ID's and such. It was a frikin DFG officer, and he made us clear out of the truck. Parked befind me on the side of the freeway was THREE DFG TRUCKS!!!!!! They followed us from Laguna Beach, down the coast to Dana Point, and almost all the way to my house.

They searched my entire truck, boat and all dive gear. Took pictures of all 16 bugs which were way over legal, and said "Thank you, have a good night" They didn't even check for proper Licenses or ID's. They took over an hour to complete these tasks.

WTF.

Wow, what a bummer!!! My buddy and I got stopped after diving off the Lois Ann. Made us pull out all our gear, ect and searched everything....the bad part was, we didn't even take any game that day! Ugh......... I wish they would spend more time in Laguna keepping their eyes on the commercial boats. I SWEAR some of them have been dropping charges or dynamite to stun the fish while I have been night diving. I tell you, the first time it happened, it scared the bejesus out of me!!!

Whadda going to do...

Hang in there, it happens to all of us.

I've heard this has been happening with squid boats off of Redondo as well. Supposedly, it scares off seals...

Most likely as someone else has said, those are seal bombs, which unfortunately are legal to keep the sea lions and seals from getting into their nets. Redondo beach Wednesday night crowd had a problem with that for a while. They had some very close near misses. There are rules on how far off shore the commercial boats have to be, and I am not the expert to quote how far that is here. I will just say that in the case of The Redondo Beach incident, they were clearly in violation on any reasonable rule.

As for whalerKyle, they have caught his group twice with allegedly illegal bugs (1 short bug the first time and 3 the second) and it sounds like he is now designated "a person of interest" by the DFG and being kept under close watch..

How many time have you gotten snagged? Remind me not to dive with you- But then again you always get the bugs- Scratch that When do we leave...

Call the Fish and game and complain about this- is it always the same 2 gun toting Glock guy? I mean damm- he doesnt even have good tastes in guns!

Yep, it's allways the same dual 9mm glock pistol packing **** head....I mean the nice DFG man.

We only seem to get harassed by the DFG boys at Laguna Beach. They really seem to go out of their way to be ***holes. I've never had problems with the DFG guys anywhere else.

Dual pistols? hahahaha heeheehee!!! This guy's seen Matrix way too many times. No more DVD movies for "Mr. Dual 9mm Pistol Carrying DFG Guy"! ... sounds like a character in a Bud Light "Real American Hero" song.

Mr. Two Packen Pistol Wearer- We salute you-- because you give divers a hard time about catching a few bugs- even though divers only take about .01% of all lobsters harvested each year- What a dumb assss---Catchy song if you sing it right.
