I am not very pleased with the USPS right now
So, here's my situation.
I ordered some items from China, which was shipped somehow, without a street number on the label.
It made it to my local post office.
I noticed that it hadn't arrived to my house on Monday, although the tracking said arrived Santa Rosa that morning.
I thought, ok, maybe it didn't make the truck.
I was off on a prescribed fire with the park service all day Tuesday. I got home, no package.
I rush off, and look online to see what the problem is, which is when I discovered my saved info at the vendor didn't have my street number in it, had everything else, just not the number.
So, bright and early this morning I went to the post office, hoping to resolve this somehow.
I get there, and they tell me they sent it back to China.
WHAT????
Ok, here's a package that was likely carried on the back of some peasant, who passed it off to a man with an ox cart, it was then put into the basket of a guy on a bike, who then brought it to a beat up old truck, which carried it to a ship, that carried over the ocean to a customs place in New York, it then made it's way to one transfer station, then another, finally arriving at my local post office.
On the package was my name, the town I lived in, and state, the street I lived on, all that was missing was the street number. This was a package that someone meant to have sent to them.
Knowing how many trials and tribulations this package had to endure to arrive this close to where it was intended, the local post office workers in their infinite wisdom concluded that it would wait a whole 24 hours (edit, 27 hours and 39 minutes...) before deciding that no one would come looking for this package, and sent it back.
