From everything I'm reading so far it looks like back mount is the way to go for this entry/site. I think I'll be bringing my lp 50s for this kne

Bwa Ha!!!

I'll be shaking out my SM 100's. Dude, seriously, weren't you sidemount in Steve Lewis' class with me? I was backmount. :shocked2:

You guys are killing me. Recovering from surgery sucks. Have a great time..

My son can't go either - may do this again or certainly down the shore if you are up for it - but that needs timing of the tides...

Now I am going to have to cave fill my 85 - BM.... lol

I think I was the only one in Sidemount for that class. It probably would have been a shorter class if not for steve having to list through all the failures in backmount manifolds. You gotta remind me who you were again.

I only backmount very small steel tanks. Like nothing bigger than 72s. Sometimes backmount is easier for a cold, short beach dive. If you are bringing your 100s I may do the same then. Eh I'll bring them both and decide when I get there.

Heard from more than a few that it isn't worth the trouble. Not much of a dive.

Now, since you are in the water gap area, if you could somehow get permission to dive Sunfish Pond --> CALL ME ASAP!!!

i dove there! What a pain to hike all my freedive gear, suit and lead and camping gear too. When I was in my teens we used to (illegally) camp there (mostly in the winter when nobody would bother us). I didn't know snorkeling there would be an issue?

i'm not sure if it was as hard as packing everything in and out of Crater Lake.. Now THAT is some clear water, but coming back up the trail with lead is a biiiitch!

No Lie!!!

I've got one for you. Real wintergreen grows around the pond. You old enough to remember the flavor of "wax lips"?

While scowling at me... :D

Was it worth it? Can't imagine what you'd see freediving Sunfish...?

I remeber thinking I was glad i didn't try to bring a tank. I was probably free diving to no more than 40 feet in those teen years.. mud and rocks.. not a whole lot to see as I recall.

I remember wax lips too...We used to drink the water from the outflow of the pond, but we would always boil it, even when it was frozen over.

Wax Lips I think was 5 cents - everything else a penny - Mary Janes and Dots on the paper...

i am so in for this..... danny i bought your nomad rig. anyone got the address?

Yes, a backmount single would make the most sense.

However, I've just taken a SM course with rented regs that featured swivel LP ports. The idea was to get the full effect of this person's idea of SM. Now I need to transition this thinking/gear to what I have.

My coldwater regs don't swivel and require a bit of fussing. Diving in less than benign conditions is a good way to shake things out and discover all those little "unintended consequences".

Looks like BRD can't make it so http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/pe...-gap-train-wreck-post7409771.html#post7409771 is no longer setting the time.

Somebody pick something and I'll try to be there.
