Greetings ladies and gentlemen,

I've got a pair of X-Large Deep6 Eddy fins that are just slightly too small for me. The pocket is wide enough to accommodate my foot but the strap is tight enough that after wearing the fins for a few minutes, the underside of my foot starts to cramp up.

I tried ordering some 2XL eddy fins, but they were gigantic and I sent them back. Ideally, I would like to take the straps from an 2XL eddy fin and put it on my L fins. Unfortunately, @cerich told me they were not for sale separately.

I really like the propulsion and buoyancy of these fins. I think if I can solve this minor fit issue they would be the perfect fin for me to use in warm water.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might fashion an extension to my existing fin strap?

Here's a few photos of the fin strap and connection for those that aren't familiar with the Deep6 fins. The straps come connected to the "outside" screw, so I guess you could easily adjust the straps to make them smaller. I have the opposite problem.

I used longer ones off of a pair of Hollis F1’s but have also considered making bungee straps using standard bungee and zip ties.

hmm I hadn't considered bungee. That's an option.

the bungee strap is an excellent idea ..
a quick temporary fix might be to extend the spring length on both sides with something like rebar tie wire, might not look pretty but it would do the job

I'll have to look that up, I'm not familiar with rebar wire tie.

The spring has a cord inside to limit it's extension. I would think you could install a longer cord to provide a moderate increase in extension without exceeding the limits of the spring.

I would probably add a straight wire extension on to test the length I wanted and then buy a stainless steel extension spring of the desired length as the permanent solution. Increasing the inner cord length is worth trying too. @cerich what stainless steel do you use for fin straps?

If you have a local dive shop that stocks different brand straps, why not take the eddy spring and see if you can find one that is longer or more flexible. Also, Lowes stocks springs like that.

Most local shops want around $50 for spring straps! At that price, I might as well consider buying a pair of 2xl fins, swapping the straps and reselling the 2xl with smaller straps in the used section for $50 or so.

Besides, doing it myself will be a little satisfying if I can get it right.
