it was the harness and backplate they sell, not the matrix. If i were going to go that route I would get a trans pac II. Oh yeah and the shop that is carrying the DO stuff dropped OMS to carry the DO stuff.

bp and wings is not just for tech. Once you try one - you will really like it and not go back.

Couldn't agree more!

:)

FredT rocks!!! I got a FredT heavy SS plate, STA and his harness, and bought a used Zeagle bc on ebay and used the wing off if. Then spent $34 bucks on a Diverite thigh pocket that attaches to your belt and leg and I am set. Everything less than $245!!! =-)

I'm a newbie but BP/wings are very comfortable and streamlined. My wife and I both like the BP/Wings setup for rec. diving - very easy to control bouyancy and no bulk. Don't spend a lot of money buying gear you're not sure about - go and find a place that will let you rent some BC's and make a direct comparison for what you like in a BC. It wasn't difficult for my wife and I to decide that the BP/wings was best for us.

Fred T's stuff is very good, I have his heavy BP/STA. I also have Koplin's light-weight STA and its awesome - I highly recommend it for its low profile. If anyone's interested I have the Fred T heavy STA that I no longer use.

I had a chance to compare the DO harness/wings to a Transpac 2 and thought the TP2 was much nicer. The DO weighed about twice as much and was comparitively bulky. Oh, yeah I have a TP2 with Travel Wings.

I had a look at the 34 lb bladder on the DO website.
I couldn't find back the bungies mentioned by someone else
on the pics.
Do all wings have bungies or just the biggest ones and
if case all wings have bungies, are they removable?
I am interested in this wing because it is a wing made
for singles only, and as far as I know, this wing would be
the only alternative to the Halcyon single tank wings.

Thanks.

I do not believe that the 34lb bladder has internal bungies. I know that the 85 redundant does as that is what I own. One great thing about them on DO bladders is that they are adjustable. It is an internal webbing system, and can be adjusted, or removed if that is what you wanted to do. Although, I don't feel these bladders are plagued by the problems that prevously showed up in bungied bladders.

All in all they make some great equipment and appear to stand behind it all.

I have the freedom plate and harness, fully modular, doesn't have all the extra crap that the Matrix does. Nice, clean setup.

Sherwood also makes a Freedom BC.

Aren't there some trademark issues there? I don't think I'd last too long selling a model of car I just happened to call the Grand Am.

SMKchef and I both got our Deep Outdoors Matrix BC a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month. Have about 6 dives on them and we both absolutely love them, if SMK can keep his weight pouches where they belong.

Great buoyancy and trim control with them.

Ok, I decided to go with a back plate and wing set up. I bought a Deep Outdoors 40lb wing. Now I have to decided which back palte and harness setup to get . I was offered a Matrix harness with the Purist back plate for $250. I know that is a great price, but I am not sure if that is the right choice for me. I am also considering the Freedom and Purist set ups. I know DIR divers will say go with the Purist. What I really want out of the system is for it to be very comfortable and easy to pack for trips (thats why I am going to sell my Sea Quest Raider). I know there are several Matrix owners on here and I would love to hear your impressions of the set up. I also love to hear from anyone who owns either of the other two systems.
