You never gave us the dive details for "Devil's Throat" so that we could see if it was a passive aggressive rule that the charter had.

Here's the details. Using Sherwood Wisdom 3 computer set to Nitrox 1.6,with a Suunto Zoop Novo as my back-up. Max Depth 125' 60 Min. EAN 32% Steel Tank / 4Lbs. Lead, 2 Min deep stop at 75-80' . Sherwood computer data screen went into first icon of Deco graph.Just curious of the details of your dive: max depth, total time, etc. I am new and learning, Have 40 + dives with Aldora over the last 9 months. The last two trips I dove nitrox after being certified locally. I haven't dove Devils throat but last trip did Maracaibo and Punta Sur for the first time. Max depth at Maracaibo was 110' on 32%, just under 1.4. Punta Sur, sur was the next day and we maxed out at 90'. What did you think of Devils throat?

Yes, as do I.Personally, I have no problem diving between a pO2 of 1.4 and 1.6 for a portion of my dive. You did not exceed 1.6 on your dive. Occasionally I have a short excursion where I exceed 1.6, I take steps to reduce this as soon as possible.
Agreed. It was an adventure...Not for the typical cruise ship diver. This is just one more reason why I am disinclined to dive Devil's Throat as a recreational dive. If for some unforeseen reason I have to linger at 120-130 feet, I not only have the obvious air supply and narcosis concerns but also ox tox. This is at least one too many concerns for me to feel the risk is worth the reward, which, as I understand it from the accounts I've read and videos I've seen, is purely a daredevil notch in one's belt, as there's nothing of interest to see.
As usual,...you make valid points.Boats can decide whatever they want. No pink BCDs, no split fins, no doubles, no AIR, no deco, no knife, no gloves or WHATEVER they want to decide. Your decision is to not go on that boat.

Average depth ? Multi-level diving...On this dive, after the deep plunge to 125' Max...probably 75-80'.What does your Sherwood going into the first icon of deco graph mean? I was not able to figure this out by looking at the manual. What was your average depth? I'm very familiar with other Pelagic Pressure Systems computers, have been diving Oceanic and DSAT for a long time.
Your Sherwood runs DSAT, much more liberal than your Suunto, running their proprietary RGBM algorithm. I would imagine the Suunto would go into deco well before your Sherwood.
