I certainly hope Deep 6 is around for a long time because their R&D, marketing and service model is one that we need more of.
Worst case, even if they are not most of the products are not specialist service dependent and as long as I had a few service kits on hand I could keep the regs in service for many years.
Not like the new Hollis Explorer II that I paid maybe seven thousand dollars to own, including training and necessary accessories! Hollis was a big company with a reputation and one of my reasons for choosing the Explorer was the likelihood of long term support. Boy did I get stung, months after buying it they dropped me like a hot rock! No prior notice, no support or even parts from that moment on- total bastards!
Só, rock-on Deep 6 and I am thinking about a set of your regs right now so I don’t have to sneak around looking for gray market service kits or listen to the usual liability and restrictive marketing BS!

Aren't these all a manufactured overseas by one Company ODS so how much R&D if you don't even build it and they are the same as several other regulators in terms of kits for service.

Actually both regulators are made in Taiwan, but at different factories. I would defer to the great guys at DR for any further information than that, as they can give more authoritative answers on their product line.

As far as us, we do ODM not OEM. A quick google search will explain the differences. The short version is ODM is Original Design Manufacturing where you contract your work and designs to be made, versus Original Equipment Manufacturing where you take someone else's design and put your logo on it. The Signature is a unique regulator to us, based on Chris's continual work and design. We work hard on testing and improving our equipment, including having third party testing done to meet regulatory standards in locations such as Europe. We also spend extended amounts of time at the factory, each year, working on product. As a matter of fact Chris just returned from spending almost a month in Asia. Many equipment brands do not own their own factory, as it isn't cost efficient, and several brands use OEM designs, that is true. We even produce one for DGX, as their value house regulator, but what I am referring to in this thread is the only regulator line we sell ourselves, the Signature.

As far as the service kit for the Signature regulator, our internal components are actually unique to this specific regulator, and use improved components such as a teflon O ring for the balance chamber, and the teflon coat on the HP seat not found elsewhere. The regulator itself also has other unique features, such as an extra layer of TiCN PVD coating on top of the chrome to improve durability. This is another example of a R&D improvement we pioneered.

@LandonL when might the Signature second stage be available in black? Orange isn’t my best color.

Thanks @LandonL! I’ll have to keep an eye on the site and hope they arrive in time to ship to a friend to bring down.
Are you guys doing DEMA? That might be a possibility....

Just signed up for product alerts. That might help, too. :D

Or you could order the regs from us and we are already in Japan and have the DR's in stock - no custom clearance to worry about. Ship directly to you from Okinawa- have them in stock now. Also have repair kits. Also have BPs and wings.
How do I purchase Dive Rite service kits for XT regulators from you?
