This is just another insentive to finish my SIA training. I'll be right with you later this year!

 Please baer with me I have not replyed to many.so thank you now

1. I think the inst. to inst. page is great. I would join in a heart beat if they would let me, but I dont think I can now that I am not teaching any more. I hope I can, so what do you all say ?

2. I wish when I was teaching and had just started out that there was some place that I could turn, to get help on some things. I wont make them know that way the class that I had trouble with don't know I am talking about them.

3. See I can talk about a problem class and not hurt anyones feelings and still get the class to come back for more help, do that in a open forum and every inst. out there will have to look for a new job.

4. This is comeing from a inst that need help and was told by a group of people that it was not in the book so I could not do it with there blessing. That is when I came to the fact that I could not work as a indpent inst. and the large dive shops here will win, so I stoped could of ussesd this forum a long time a go.

5.thank you for your time and letting me type love the site and would love to join the inst. to inst. and I have nothing to hide. but will change the names of any student to protect them from Inst. bashing.

I'm wondering if Dive Master candidates are acceptable for the new forum.

Bob

DM candidates aren't being allowed in as of yet. We feel that you will not gain nearly as much until you finish that portion of your learning and in fact it may hinder you to have so many different ways to teach and so forth. But take heart... it will be yet another bene for reaching that "professional" level! You can do it, and we hope to see you there SOON! :tease:

Understandable. I'll see you there soon. Thanks for the quick reply.

Here's one VERY new diver that is happy to hear there is a forum here for diving professionals to get the support and information they need to become even better at teaching ME the skills I need to be a better diver. Every professional needs that kind of resource.

In MY profession, I'm trained to seek the help of colleagues: "when in doubt, consult". Also, working in the field of education, I've learned how important those "meetings before the meeting" can be. Sometimes those candid discussions NEED to happen but are completely inappropriate for students, parents, or other involved parties to hear.

So....talk all you want behind closed doors. To me, it means I'll just get better instruction when I come through for my AOW. Who knows....I might just stimulate some interesting discussion behind those doors. I'm sure I did for my last instructor.

Happy venting.

All areas of life have "experts" and "non-experts".
Not all information is shared between the two
groups.

I think what "non-experts" like myself are concerned
about is that fact that the "experts" will
reduce giving their advice to the "non-experts"
and just stick to talking to "experts". i.e.
You all will just stick to your Instructor sub-forum.

I have gotten a tremoundous amount of helpful
advice from the "experts" so far on this board
and hope they will continue giving their
advice to us newbies.

newbie-in-fl once bubbled...

you will never have to worry about that here on this board, all the "experts" are here because they like being here.

I would love to talk with some Instructors from other agencies and see how they deal with Common problems, not so common problems and hopefully to learn how to be a better Instructor and the Ultimate effect being that my students are Better Divers.
But I strongly agree that it should be for Dive Pros Only!
