It sometimes seem like people determinedly turn over every stone time and agin trying to find a plausible explanation when a surprising DCI occurs. It's great that we all lear/review and increase our respect for any contributing factors, but sometimes we need to accept that some hits juts happen. Even 1 in a million rolls around every now and again.

Please excuse me if this is indelicate, but you mentioned that the DM was probably 40 years younger than you, so I assume you are in your 60s and am wondering whether age may have been a risk factor that you had, but the DM didn't have?
