Daydreaming of Curacao

There's an old 50-gal drum down on the sand in front of AllWest, there's always at least 3 of them hiding inside.

And a whole lot of banded shrimp.

I'm sure many of you have done or read about the Superior Producer - Curacao's most well known wreck dive!

Since the second mega pier was built, entry and exit has been relatively easy - until the ladder recently broke. We're hoping it'll be fixed soon, but no indication of when that will be. So if you're hoping to dive it in the near future, prepare for a rocky exit, or arrange yourself a boat to dive from!

As soon as I hear the ladder is repaired, I'll post again in this thread. Happy diving everyone!

Great to find this thread. My wife and I have been diving Curaçao for the past 7 years sometimes for months at a time, mainly to help control the lionfish population. I plan to be there Aug 5-19 staying at Blue Bay however my wife can’t join me this trip so I’m searching for a DB interested in hunting lionfish. I’m a DM with the Self Reliant certification however it’s a handful to handle spears and a zookeeper with a pony tank hanging off my BC so let me know if interested. I’ll pay for tanks if you’d be willing to alternate carrying the zookeeper. No worries if you prefer not to.

That ladder was more rust than steel. While climbing it, you could watch it flex as the waves hit it, and pray it would stay intact until you made it to the top.

So if you're hoping to dive it in the near future, prepare for a rocky exit, or arrange yourself a boat to dive from!

Do you know if people actually do a rock exit? I've considered it in the past, but it looked...risky. Much more so than a even a rusty ladder.

It was quite rusty, so I think finally gave in to a big wave The dock is attached to the cruise ship mega pier, so my guess is the port authority is responsible. I'm not involved in it more than knowing it happened. Thought I'd share so no one is surprised by a missing exit after hitting the water!

Big rig at Tugboat right now! As of now, their departure date is 20 October. Might leave the pier unavailable some days.

Good to hear that it wasn't in great shape but mysteriously "broke", resulting in people having to pay $100 for a boat dive instead of $10 for a shore dive.
