Full moon was a couple days ago, and we're still in the coral spawning season! In the coming days, you may get lucky and see some coral spawn in action. I've been keeping my eye out during the day for Christmas Tree Worms, sponges, and some hard corals, but many spawn at night. It's always related to the full moon during the time of year where water is at the right temperature. Some spawn right around sunset, while others wait a couple hours after! It's all about planning with a little bit of luck to catch this phenomenon live.

I know that is a very cool experience but I just can't get out of my head that you are basically swimming through c*m.

I was in CuraƧao last week with Ocean Encounters at LionsDive. Outstanding trip! Regarding food, definitely put Soi 95 on your list. We had dinner there last Friday and it was phenomenal. The dishes are creative and delicious - and the bar knows how to make a good drink. Wish weā€™d found Soi 95 sooner - it was a recommendation from the proprietor of a little restaurant right across the boat channel from OE LionsDive called Olas & Copas - a good alternative to the restaurants at LionsDive and the way-overpriced Mambo Beach joints. The dive shop crew eats lunch at Olas & Copas - which we took as a good sign. Service was a bit slow but the food is good and fairly priced.
Olas and Copas was amazing!! Everyone was delightful, food was great and there was a great guitar player there on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday!

Olas y Copas is so supportive of the marine environment too - they've hosted 2 fundraisers this year for Sea Turtle Conservation Curacao and 1 for Reef Renewal Curacao. Likely they've done more that I missed seeing :) They're fun events with opportunity for contributing to causes I'm sure you can all get behind! I'm patiently waiting for them to announce the next STCC fundraiser, which will be sometime in December. Keep your eyes out for Turtle Rock on social media!

This came out on the social web today. "CuraƧao, LionsDive Beach Resort, and Ocean Encounters Honored in the 2025 Scuba Diving Readersā€™ Choice Awards "

If true, I can't wait for our first trip to the island.
