Eh, sometimes living near "the insurance capital of the world" has is drawbacks.

I don't know why it wouldn't be available in Connecticut. I checked the website for coverage but found no answer. I am curious to find out why.
insurance is regulated at a state level, not a federal level. every state is different. sometimes not so different. sometimes
way too different.

in order to sell insurance in a state, a company must receive approval from that state. this requires sepearte submission and approval for every state. some states are different enough from the norm that getting approval is stupid. so universal availability will never happen.

I contacted Dive Assure and insurance is not available to Connecticut divers who dive locally. If they are diving internationally, they would be eligible for coverage.

Thank you for your email.

Our programs with international coverage are available to residents of all states, for any diving or travel done outside the country.
Coverage for traveling within the United States is currently available to residents of 12 states, however, Connecticut is unfortunately one of them.

I apologize for the inconvenience and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please feel free to contact us anytime.

Thank you,

Just spoke to DAN on the phone as I wanted to upgrade my master plan to the preferred plan since I am taking AN/DP. It was stated to me on the phone that even with the master plan there is no depth limitation or gas limitation. Was an easy, quick phone call and I would recommend that you call yourself to verify since insurance can vary from state to state.

Each state insurance/ compliance department must approve all insurance contracts. Some states have more stringent verbiage favorable to the insured that insurance companies are not willing to offer......hence, some states are either precluded or they have a very limited contract to offer.

if you call about a specific provision of the policy, you must document the conversation with dates and names and or possibly a case number.
