Watched this when it first came out and not impressed. Typical documentary over the top dramatisation and "conjecture".
Only too true, but to be fair, it's a trend many documentaries these days are guilty of.

Watched this when it first came out and not impressed. Typical documentary over the top dramatisation and "conjecture". Have deco dived the middle cargo deck a couple of times and its not a place to hang about in for sure and when you see lorries in there still hanging on chains "what if" thoughts crop up and its pitch black! Not for the faint hearted!!
Personally I prefer diving around the outside and occasionally into the accommodation area as more relaxing and a quick way up if needed. Each to their own of course.

I entirely agree about the documentary, but there's some decent video of the wreck (if not the absolute best) for people who haven't dived it before.

I spent 4 days on the Zenobia in 2021 (8 dives) and enjoyed them all, including the Middle Cargo Deck and engine room, but agree that the latter two aren't relaxing dives (We were told one of the lorries had a securing chain snap last winter, so is even more precarious now!)

The comments about "experienced divers" dying in the wreck is pathetic. If they were "experienced" they would have run lines to find their way out when everything silted up, and of course that was obvious at one point in the video too. The young Cousteau's don't appear to be very "experienced" either!

I'll be In Cyprus for holidays this summer, would love to get in a "proper dive" on the Zenobia. Does anyone know of a shop that would offer a "tech-(lite) dive" on the Zenobia without having to dive several days?
Hoping to avoid the way to frequent short dives that holiday-dives seems to yield.

I'm happy to do a checkout dive in the morning the same day or so. Was thinking to bring computer/lights/drysuit and rent the rest.

Scubatechdivers will only do the Zenobia as "2nd day dive" and I doubt I'll be able to get two days of diving in. Just to be clear - I do fully understand their policy, but was hoping to find a shop that would be willing :)

Try Chris at Alpha Divers – 'THE' 5 Star Scuba Diving Service Providers in Cyprus & 'THE' Zenobia Wreck Specialists
They have twinsets and BP/W to rent.

I wouldn’t bother with a drysuit(unless it’s your redundant buoyancy option) as the water will be pretty warm, as high as 30c

I recently moved to Cyprus and was diving yesterday in a 3mm wetsuit, water was 25c on the surface and 22c at depth.

Many thanks!

As I've still never had a wetsuit-dive where I didn't get cold I'll at least try to get room for the drysuit🤭

I moved here from Canada, so I did 90% of my dives in a drysuit, with thick thermals. I was always the first one to call a dive for cold. During the winter here I dive a 7mm Bare semi-dry, it’s great for the minimum water temperature of about 16c.

Do they hire out Scuba gear? Once I get certified I would like to take a closer look at the wreck. Sometime in October.

Alternatively you could try with Dive-In Larnaca – The Best Diving In Cyprus Dive in Larnaca talk to Phil, he’s great and knoweledgeable guide. I came back two weeks ago from Cyprus, did my ANDP and 7 wreck dives, all deco.
You can rent everything, we dove with 28% in doubbles and 50% in stage. All of the penetration dives were 60-70 minutes including deco.
They typically run 2 dives a day.
I can understand second day dive policy, as ops would want to checkout your skills, but with your cert level, I don’t think that would be a problem.

Just two weeks ago water temperature at depth was 19c, heating up fast!

If Alex is considering wreck penetration or even propellor or kissing trucks photos/swims, I’d strongly recommend dry suit as a secondary means of buoyancy.
