Oh, that's all? :) I thought we were talking about for years. Breath em down on your last dive and just take em in for vis in the spring before diving. You'll get em back nice and full.

I would take them in for a VIS on the 1st day of the month after your last dive. Should you have moisture in the tank, better to get it out before rusting for 5 months. Storing the tank full for 5 months is nothing. By delaying to the 1st of the month for the VIP, you gain a little leeway in case next year you extended you season. By servicing at the end of season, you insure all you gear is ready to go come spring. Also, dive shop service departments are slow at end of season, come spring there are sometimes delays due to everyone coming in at once.

I'm am a little confused, the dive shop clerk that sold me the cylinders told me to have the cylinders checked at the beginning of the diving season, after storage.

Sure that way if there is moisture in the tank it sits there for 5 months rusting. Then the LDS can charge you to clean the inside too when they do the vip!

It makes complete sense to me. I will have them filled before storages.

Thank you all for your comments.

I would also open and close the valves every month or so. Hook them up to a reg so you don't lose all the air. After a few months the valves on my al 80s get hard to turn. I open and close them three or four times and they free up and turn easily.
