Hi,

I have a spare regulator which is already 26 years old. It's a Poseidon Cyklon 300 with metal second stage.

My primary regulator is a Poseidon Cyklon 5000 with octopus.

Recently I started deep and deco diving in Santo / Vanuatu (SS President Coolidge) with depts to 60 meters. The Dive shop made sure I always had a EAN 50 Nitrox tank waiting for me on the 6m deco stop equiped with one of their regulators (as I did not have my spare Cyklon 300 with me...)

Now I wondered if I could use my Poseidon Cyklon 300 next time on a deco stop with EAN 50 (or more) ? If not? Then please let me know why not.

Looking forward to hear from you

hi itsme
i would not recomend using the 300
until you upgrade and clean the reg to handle the higher o2
you have to change the lube in the first stage and second stage to
a oxygen compatible lube and change the o-rings to viton

Thank you for the info Bottomrunner,
I'm going to my LDS to have my reg upgraded.
Ciao

Yep, I wouldn't use it until it's been made ready for Nitrox, if it were under 40% I'd say it probably wouldn't be a problem but at 50%, that's a whole new game.

Agree with all the above - you won't need to swap out anything in the 2nd stage though, pressure isn't high enough to make mischief.

Cyklon Trivia Story:
A few years back a Cyklon was found laying on the bottom of the ocean in the UK. When taken into a shop & hooked up to air, the darn thing was still in working condition after being submerged in saltwater for over 2 years.
They did an annual service on it anyway. :D
