I am flying out to Cayman Isles for 10 days of diving starting 11th January and am worried that the present cold snap in Northeastern USA might have a fallout effect on diving conditions in the Cayman Islands. In particular, I am thinking about the exposed north coast of Little Cayman and the Bloody Bay Wall. I know that the Aggressor will not do the overnight crossing if the weather conditions are rough but I also have 3 days of land-based diving booked at the Little Cayman resort.

What do people think?

Looking at any forecast models beyond about 5 days is mostly guesswork, but the GFS is showing mostly moderate east and southeast winds starting on about the 12th and going through the end of the week. By the time you get there, any effects from the current front should be relaxing and the models are not currently showing another strong one behind it. It does look like it might be a bit rainy, so you might want to pack a jacket to wear on the boat, but if the winds are east and southeast and not very strong, I would guess you will probably get a chance to dive Bloody Bay Wall. The models could change tomorrow, but that is what it looks like today.

Thanks. In any case, I will physically be on Little Cayman Island between 18th & 22nd January 2014 with 8 dives planned. I guess I'll have to be very unlucky to miss BBW.

We'll be on Brac the last week and hope to dive a day at Mixing Bowl. Have fun on your trip. Cheers
