Conditions remain about the same as Sunday.

Viz 12-15'
Surge 1-2'
Temp @ 20' 68F
Surf occasional 3-4', mostly 1-2'

Last nite at Point Vicente (the PV lighthouse)... altho the walk up Cardia Hill sucks..... 40 Feet Of Viz. No joke, it was amazing.

Slight surge, hardly any surf.

I didn't catch the temp, but it was warm enough for me to dive for 50+ minutes without the hood that I forgot at home (I would have preferred it, but....oh well)

ChrisM once bubbled...

According to the swell model, PV is being blocked by Catalina right now (instead of Laguna :( ) and while I am not familar with the specific dive site, is it also a North facing beach?

Big o' swells comin in and da waves, day are knocking ya around. I am on the Pacific Star on Sunday....diving Catalina.....thinking Dramamine might be in order for the ride over....

Just an example:

Location: White Rocks
Vis: maybe 30 feet; green
Temperature: 67-69 degrees to 50+ feet

Animals sighted: the ususal suspects -- with the gloomy waters, we saw lots of lobster, some out of their holes. We even witnessed a lobster fight.

Location: Channel Islands; Santa Cruz
Surge:1-2 ft
Temp: average 68 degress F to about 25ft. 60 - 52 F from 30 ft to 90ft. It felt unusually warm; no complaints.
Vis: 5-10 ft from surface to about 30 ft. It cleared to 20 to 40 ft at depth and depending on the dive location.
Weather topside: sunny and warm, wind picked up at some locations.
Animals: Giant sea bass, BIG bat rays, halibut, lingcod, eel, and all of the other usual suspects

At Isthmus Reef and Eel Cove,

While the quality of my report is tempered by being involved with a class..

Isthmus
Viz 10-15'
Surge 0-1
Current - off and on light to moderate
Water Temp - 70 on surface

Eel Cove
Viz 8-10
Surge 0
Current - none
Water temp - 70 at surface, 66 at 27'

I'm reviving this rather than creating yet another Catalina thread.

Friday 10/19, Casino Point

Viz not as good as the week before, 20 to 40 ft depending.
Hit 2 thermoclines on the way to the Su-Jack, 55° at the coldest.
Surge all day long, felt from 35ft and above.

Saturday 10/20

Parson's Landing: Bad

Viz: 20ft
Temp: 55° at 65ft
Current: mild

North West swell and wind made the West end of the island a bad idea for diving
Lots of rambling above 35ft

Bird Rock: Pretty good

Viz: 40 to 50 ft
Temp: 63° at 55ft
Current: none on the wall
Swell: none

A great sunset dive!
