CBulla:
Wetsuits are for January through March.. the rest of the time.... swimsuits! :)

I had my first dive yesterday, with no wetsuit, a jetty dive at St. Andrews State Park in the Panama City Beach area. I brought the suit, but decided I didn't need it. That was fun! I was wondering if I need, in Lauderdale, given the globs, a light weight or "thin" suit [I don't know the lingo, sorry]. Or "shorty" or something.

Yesterday, I dove wearing a t-shirt to protect against chaffing from the BCD or weight belt, and it worked fine. I think a quick-dry t-shirt would've been a little better.

We were very near shore but down to 60 feet in the northern gulf and it was not too cool. It was really amazing to me how the water so quickly and dramatically warmed as we came up on the beach to exit.

Thanks for everything! As you can see, I am an enthused newbie! Ft. Lauderdale, here I come! Dive you Saturday!

PS: Still looking for a dive buddy for Lauderdale on Saturday the 26th. :)

If I am not going to Venice Beach that day, I will be your buddy...I am sure others will join you...Post a trip in the Private Trips with the date and location in the subject line.
