Unfortunately, my new drysuit doesn't come in for a couple weeks and I already sold my old "dry"suit, so it's either freeze or don't dive.;-0

Come on, I did my OW checkouts in 42 degree water in a wetsuit. Wasn't so bad ;)

I need to try my new bp and wings out. Who wants to go diving?

My OW checkouts were in 42 degree water in a drysuit, which is why the concept of 42 degree water in a wetsuit bugs me a little :)

I'm in the same boat. New BP/Wings, new reg, long hose....I need to rinse the chlorine out and get some salt water in that thing.

Well, when's the new suit come in? Last time I was in the ocean was June 2001 with a wetsuit, for my 7th dive... at Folly Cove.

Last time I dove wet was when water was about this temp (Nov) . It was surprisingly not that bad diving wet. Yes, there was a bit of face freeze for a second. The key is having decent wetsuit and for air temp to be warm. If it's sunny and no wind and at least 45-50 temp air, makes getting in and out of wetsuit much more pleasant. I dive w/ a 7MM semi-dry suit and 3mm vest underneath.

I dive dry now if I didn't have it, now would be about time I start diving. I dove about a mo. ago when water was colder w/ a couple guys diving wet. The sun and no wind made a difference. These guys actually got two dives in.

Would love to go today however looks like washing machine conditions.

yeah, this is the time of year I love my drysuit...

I've got open water checkouts the second week of May. ALL the students will be diving wet, but I am going dry...

I am so not going to feel bad about being nice and toasty warm...

Make the wind blow west, I'm so sick of pond diving!

I dove today for my nitrox cert. Since it looked like good surfing at all the exposed beaches we visited, we finally opted to dive at the relatively glassy Stage Fort Park "main beach". Surface temp was about 41, and the bottom (just barely 20') was about 39.

Diving wet was tolerable, with only a little bit of chill in my index fingers (hooray for mitts!), toes, and upper lip. Not much to see, except for an unusually large orange and white clam worm (Nereis virens ) that I'd estimate at about 14 inches in length.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm ready to dive any time the conditions are favorable.
