Was it a yellowish glue? If so that would be a contact adhesive. Usually the boots do have an adhesive tape on them too.

Yes, it sort of looks like earwax.

The suit is used and not in great shape. I'm thinking that sending it in to be professionally repaired would probably cost more than the suit is worth :( I think I'll try stitching the boots on. There was a rubber strip that came with the replacement boots, so I'll probably affix that over the seam with drysuit glue and then seal around the edges with aquaseal. I'm thinking it might be good to put some adhesive tape over the seam inside the suit as well. If this fails, I'll probably end up buying a new suit anyway :(
