Has anyone been to crystal springs, FL. Is it worth going to or would you suggest going somewhere else? Any suggestions?

If you go during manatee season, it is definitely worth it. Snorkeling with the manatees was quite an experience. In fact, it's one I want to repeat soon.
I did my check outs at Crystal River, vis isn't that great for diving and there is a small little cavern. That's about it. The snorkeling with the manatees is fun as long as there aren't big crowds. The manatee are there around Jan-March. There are much more pretty places to dive.

thanks that's what i was looking for..i guess we will skip it and try somewhere else

You could head down to PC but I think Ike may have other plans. Not too far away is Vortex spring, I hear Morrison is still closed. You could head towards Ginne, Devil's den or Blue Grotto.
Or you could just stay closer to home away from the storms, there is always Mermet for some exceptional quarry diving!

The panhandle has some beautiful diving, Jackson Blue and Morrison once it is open. Vortex has a great campground and the spring is a great place to train. You can also get some offshore diving at Panama City, but due to all the storms, the Gulf is a stirred up mess right now. I have dived down at Ginnie and a few other springs around central Florida. I really enjoyed Paradise, but that is an overhead dive. For some beautiful offshore dives, my favorite has been Jupiter. Drift diving at its easiest and best!
