want to buy a neoprene dry suit. which is better, whats the difference between crushed and compressed?
have also seen micro bubble neoprene is this different than the other 2?

thanks now for any input and info

Yes, and it highlights a difference.

DUI's "crushed" neoprene has been so compressed that all of the bubbles in the original neoprene were crushed out of existence. Hence, it has no inherent insulating capacity and virtually no buoyancy. Think of it as an extremely tough shell material.

On the other hand, "compressed" neoprene is merely squeezed to become thinner. It retains some inherent insulating capacity and remains positively buoyant.

These terms all sound like marketing BS to me.

to my knowledge there is 2 distinct preparations of the same material: neoprene and foam neoprene. Neoprene has no bubbles, foam neoprene has closed cell bubbles. There is a wide range of bubble size in foam neoprene.

I would be interested in the scientific (not marketing) discussion of the various materials.
