.... like any other theory, attempts to find a logical explanation for observed phenomena....

It is not a phenomena if you understand it and can explain it.

I would have chosen "...explanation of observations and facts.":D

Lightening is not a phenomenon.

Earthquakes are not phenomena.

Carbon dating and aging the earth is not phenomena.

The sun and the planetary orbits around it are not phenomena.

Sorry...feeling a little anal tonight.

When it comes to English, I'm almost always anal:

Main Entry:phe·nom·e·non
Pronunciation: \fi-ˈnä-mə-ˌnän, -nən\

Inflected Form(s):plural phe·nom·e·na \-nə, -ˌnä\ or phe·nom·e·nons
Etymology:Late Latin phaenomenon, from Greek phainomenon, from neuter of phainomenos, present participle of phainesthai to appear, middle voice of phainein to show — more at fancy
Date:1605

  1. plural phenomena : an observable fact or event
  2. plural phenomena a: an object or aspect known through the senses rather than by thought or intuition b: a temporal or spatiotemporal object of sensory experience as distinguished from a noumenon c: a fact or event of scientific interest susceptible to scientific description and explanation
  3. a: a rare or significant fact or event bplural phenomenons : an exceptional, unusual, or abnormal person, thing, or occurrence

Incorrect. A phenomenon is any kind of event that is observable. Whether one understands it or can explain it is irrelevant. Lighting, earthquakes, planetary orbits are most definitely phenomena.

Can I do a do-over, and can we all pretend that I did not post that silly post???

I think I was refering to:

a. An unusual, significant, or unaccountable fact or occurrence; a marvel.
b. A remarkable or outstanding person; a paragon. See Synonyms at wonder.

or

a: a rare or significant fact or event / an exceptional, unusual, or abnormal person, thing, or ccurrence

or

marvel, miracle

or

That which strikes one as strange, unusual, or unaccountable

You're saying it's a hoax? Man, you really are deluded.

No, I didn't say it's a hoax. I was saying it in a comical sort of way.:)

I do respect everybody's point of view. If you think I am deluded, that's your view. Surely you are entitled to say whatever you want, but please play the ball and not the man.;)

No worries, when I die, and if I am wrong and end up in the firey pits of hell, I will cry out..."Mike!! Theunis!!! Save me...save me Mike!!! Theunis!!!....Be good christains, and save me!!!!!"

I'll wait a bit.....and if that fails............then I will repent, say I am sorry...say a few "Our Fathers" and "Hail Mary's" and all will be forgiven...shazam....and like the drop of a hat, I will be up in heaven sipping on some gin and juice, kicking back with Big Daddy, JC, the spook, Theunis, and Mike, right?

I believe the answer to your question is wrong.

No, we cannot save you. You have to repent now, say you are sorry and all will be forgiven! Jesus died for ALL of us on the cross, but He has risen from the dead. That is the good news. If you really want to repent and be saved you have to believe.

The good news is that it's easy, just pray the following prayer and believe:

"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."

That all depends on which denomination/interpretation you believe. There is a clause where you cannot repent in your final days. Basically, you can't be a bastard your entire life and then just say "forgive me, I have sinned." However, some denominations don't actually believe in Hell and believe that everyone will eventually find their way to heaven after spending a good amount of time in purgatory.

I just want to know "who is right?" since not even the Christians can agree on the real story (and they have a book with it all written down!).

I don't know about a clause where you cannot repent in you final days. But herewith a quote from Luke 23: 39-43:

"39And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise".

If a person was a bastard his whole life, such a person can just asks for forgiveness and repent. But such a person should believe. That is the good news from the Holy Bible. Jesus died for all of us on the cross. All you have to do is to accept this and believe!! It's really easy.

Um, how is dropping all rational thought (i.e. having faith) and believing in something with out proof, easy? Especially as one must use a book with numerous contradictions as what to live their life by.

If you are a homosexual, it tells you you are sinful because of something that is innate and therefore you must have a life of abstinence.

If you are a woman it tells you, you must submit to your husband and that you are the weaker sex.

If you are anybody, it says you are sinful and must submit to a higher power in order to go to heaven, even if you have spent your life doing nothing but good deeds.

Hmm, not so easy for me personally to stomach...

Mike,

1. Why do we need to fear the Lord (as is stated in your signature line)?

2. Why does a convicted murderer who prays to God and Jesus everyday for 30 out of 40 years he is in prison (on a life sentence) get into heaven, but if I die tomorrow, I don't get to heaven, simply because I don't beleive? and if I were to believe, by seeing with my own eyes, I denounce the worthiness of God for my praise because of what I think of his actions....to His face!?

I don't get it?

I can see that you don't get it but you seem to be mocking more than asking. We've covered all of this in the thread already. I also see from your other posts that you have access to a Bible and can find select scriptures when you want? A troll too?

Read Ephesians 2

John 3:3 "Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

John 3:5 "Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6, That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Rebirth in the Spirit is what's required.

Ephesians 2:8 For ny grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, 9, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Works won't do it. Isn't a decision on your part a work?
