Cozumel Trip Report

Hey, Sorry I’m a little late to add to this old thread, but I just got back from Cozumel myself.

I can’t match jepuskar’s trip report so I’ll keep mine brief:

This was our third trip to Coz. We had a great time. It was sunny every day, 90+ F air and 82 F water. In 13 days, I dove 41 times for 36 hours of bottom time. Saw sharks, turtles, schools of anchovies, mass sponge spawning, and more fish and coral than I can name. (Did not see any one finned divers.)

I met some great folks, European, Canadian, Mexican, and US (just to name a few).

We got back to New Jersey, and were told the sun had only been out one day in the month of May, and the temp was in the 50’s. Water temp is still in the 40’s on the bottom.

I want to go back.

I am not liking you right now. I could of easily done 40+ myself, but I was a good supportive boyfriend to my non-diving girlfriend.

Thats ok though, she supported me on the surface which was worth about 20 dives....hehehehe

I liked the review. Can't see the video from work, but will look from home.

I'm going next week... can't wait. Staying at Plaza Los Glorias, hard beds, but the swim up bar is nice.

Forget the pool. . .walk through the outdoor restaurant and dive off the wall right by the sign that says "No Diving". Niiiice!! We spent a lot of time there drinking margaritas, getting sunburned and dipping in the sea off the wall. Aaaahhh. . .Memories get me through the periods between trips to places like Coz.

My next vacation is to Cabo San Lucas w/ a 4 day stop on the way home in L.A. So I can dive Catalina. But I'm missing Coz so much, I'm almost reconsidering my destination. Great trip report & videos Jepsukar. Welcome back - You were missed!

I'm trying to forget about that whole dive....that was the worst dive I did while I was down there. The reef was fine, but I was a nervous wreck the whole pre/during/post dive with that group.

Older group, dives maybe once or twice a year, rents all of their equipment, and generally has no idea wtf is going on.

I was really concerned about them the whole dive.....I essentially dove solo that one....that poor dive master was being swarmed by them and I stayed my distance...it was hard for me to ignore them tearing up the reef.

I always think about if I was a dive master how I would handle that situation....these people are accidents waiting to happen and should really be in the water let alone 5 feet from a reef..

ugh, ok anyways...back to something I want to think about..my next diving trip..ohh, wait a minute....there isnt going to be a dive trip for awhile.....new job = no vacation time = unhappy jepuskar ;-0
