nice clips so far (not done seeing them all)

but a couple of questions
1. whats up with the one fin dude ?

2. in a couple of the clips there is a highspeed (tone) sound in the sound stream, was there a boat above you ?

we also had jose when we went down to cozumel in feb and he was nice , even got offered a good deal on a night dive, for about half of the normal rate. also which boat were you on because from the backroll clip looks like you were on a fast boat (ana luiz?)

Hey scubatooth,

Don't remember, it was either Ana Luz, Cascabel, or John-Y.

Thats all I did was the 2 tank morning fast boats, besides two afternoon dives. I loved them, back before noon everyday. :)

The tone you might be hearing is my dive computer. I use a hoseless dive computer and when it loses its signal from the transmitter hooked up to my first stage it beeps to let me know...usually happens when I shoot video because my arms are stretched out. Aeris is coming out with a newer model very soon that should correct this.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the clips...

Jason

well i heard the beep of your computer and figuredthat out, the sound i was wondering was a high pitch sound from above you (a boat maybe ?)

also what about the guy with only 1 fin ?

...the fins look the same, so are they from the same pair? Did someone forget their fins and somebody had the bright idea to split a pair??

If you look at the clip again, there are two guys with only one fin. Ok, now here is were I start to get aggravated.....

There was a group of 6 other divers on the boat with me...they all needed equipment and after observing them put it together I was a nervous wreck....I couldnt believe I was going in the water with these people.....

One guy almost did a backroll with only half his BC on, I stopped him before he could do that...another lady was soo nervous she was almost hyperventilating....turns out she has been diving for 15 years and always gets like this before every dive..'the fear of the unknown' she says....whewwww

Ok, to cut my rant short I knew these were all vacation divers, so I had a good feeling I was going to get pissed off in the dive and sure enough I did....I knew they were going to be all over the reef...I stayed clear of the whole group, even stayed away from the dive master because he was being swarmed by them..so I hung out in the back buddyless, yes..thats right I dove solo...sue me...I much rather depend on myself then be caught up amongst that group.

Ok, so I ranted a little more than promised.....here is the funky part.....because all there gear was rented from the dive shop, somehow they were short 1 pair of fins....so these guys decided to each take a fin and dive. Now, if I was the DM on the boat, I would not of let them go in...heck, even with 2 fins each I might not of let them go in.

What really sucks about my trip is I saw alot of intentional grabbing of coral to steady oneself to get that 'great' picture. Poor Carrie had to listen to me bit*h because I was soo upset...I am guilty of accidentally finning some coral and boy did I feel bad too...but I would never intentional grab, kick, etc. What sucks worse is the DM's see this but they dont say anything because its all about tips...you tell them to stay off the reef and then they dont get tipped as much..its BS.

Man, now I am really feeling bad because I know what I saw was just a small part of the whole problem with the system....nothing will change though..its all about $$$$.

...divers like that should stay out of the water completely....take up golf or something.

I dont even want to think about this anymore.....

I can just imagine what Cousteu saw when he went there in 1961...

ok, now im getting all emotional...i think i might cry. ;-0

I have to agree! I have been to Coz 3 out of the last 4 years and it will be most likely 4 out of 5 come this January. I have stayed at Brisas when it was the Costa Club and it is a nice hotel, but I personally never made a big deal out of the hotels because I spend so little time in them. It is hard not to love Cozumel. Diving and the Island topside is a fantastic place to be. I am convinced now......we go again:mean:
